The ice in the world is melting at a rapid rate ( yes, even the ice in your water ) at an alarmingly rapid rate. The oceans are getting fuller and colder, Greenland’s ice sheet is melting, and that drink is no longer chilly.
Global warming and greenhouse gases.
Greenhouse gases produce what is known as the greenhouse effect. The earth has greenhouse gases in the atmosphere that make energy in a 360 degree direction. Some energy is directed towards the crust of our planet, warming the surface.
One of the most harmful gases is Methane. Methane (Hydrogen Carbide ) in the atmosphere is a potent greenhouse gas with a potential global warming figure of 28 over a 100-year period. it is one of the most harmful gases warming the earth, as it is released in rather large quantities. The concentration of Methane in Earth’s atmosphere has increased by about 150% since 1750. Methane is made by cars, farm animals and other pollutants.
The polar icecaps are melting at an alarming rate, but by riding your bike or walking to work or school, you can contribute and help reduce the greenhouse gases, slowing down the gradual melting of the polar bears home.
